Social Origins, Adolescent Experiences, and Work Value Trajectories during the Transition to Adulthood.
Johnson, Monica Kirkpatrick
Social Forces, v80 n4 p1307-40 Jun 2002
Data from the longitudinal study Monitoring the Future indicate that individuals' work values change substantially from late adolescence through young adulthood, with "average trajectories" of work values suggesting growing realism with age. Work value trajectories were systematically tied to social origin and early experience, with gender and race playing important roles. (Contains 63 references.) (Author/SV)
