Degree-Granting Programs in Adventure Education: Added Value?
Plaut, Laura
Journal of Experiential Education, v24 n3 p136-40 Win 2001
A degree in adventure education is not a prerequisite for employment in the profession. Furthermore, since degree requirements cannot provide experience, a degree is insufficient. Nevertheless, a degree offers a theoretical foundation not readily learned as a practitioner, and it offers the opportunity for developing more effective professionals. Standardizing undergraduate adventure education curricula should be considered. (TD)
