Profiling the Phonological Processes Shaping the Fossilized IL of Adult Learners of English as a Foreign Language: Some Theoretical Implications.
Monroy, Rafael
International Journal of English Studies, v1 n1 p157-217 2001
Describes the frozen interlanguage (IL) of adult learners of English in a natural setting to profile phonological processes that underlie their output. Also examines the impact on learners' oral behavior and the role played by transfer and developmental processes in such behavior. Analysis yields 10 processes shaping learners' IL that are reflections of the macroprocesses of addition, subtraction, and substitution. (Author/VWL)
