Explored family networks that sustained the educational aspirations of women college students of Mexican descent. Data from student interviews and observations highlighted the enduring influence of family members, the adaptation of family through "compadrazgo" (godparenting), and the overarching values of long-term reciprocity and mutual engagement with family members, friends, and community.
