Spirituality in Education: A Matter of Significance for American Indian Cultures.
Jacobs, Don Trent
Paths of Learning: Options for Families & Communities, n12 p16-18 Spr 2002
To traditional American Indians, spirituality involves significant, inviting reflection, which possesses power and benevolence, yet it is also incomprehensible. Contemplating the significance of things requires a personal approach to learning. Educators using an indigenous approach to education will emphasize self-reflection, remember Nature as teacher, see teaching as art, and emphasize the interconnectedness of all things. (TD)
