The Impact of Attending to Unstressed Words on the Acquisition of Written Grammatical Morphology by French-Speaking ESL Students.
Morris, Lori; Tremblay, Michel
Canadian Modern Language Review, v58 n3 p364-85 Mar 2002
Reports findings of a classroom experiment involving French-speaking English-as-a-Second-Language learners. An experimental group did weekly cloze dictation activities designed to focus their attention on unstressed grammatical words. Learners' accuracy in verbal and nominal morphology on the pre- and post-tests revealed the experimental group improved far more than the control group. (Author/VWL)
