Examines factors associated with the presence of social fathers in the lives of preschoolers, using data from the Fulton County Descriptive Study. Results indicated that most children have a social father and association differs depending upon his relationship to the mother. A relationship with a social relative father was associated with higher levels of children's school readiness. (Author/JDM)
