What's Race Got To Do with It? The Dynamics of Race Relations in the Oakland Teachers' Strike.
Young, Patricia A.
Race, Ethnicity and Education, v4 n2 p125-43 Jul 2001
Analyzed racial dynamics and relations evident in the 1996 Oakland, California teachers' strike, where most strikers were White and most nonstrikers were African American teachers. Analysis of teacher speech indicated that the concept of race was multidimensional as it consisted of identity, meaning, history, and social complexities that became framed, transformed, and mutated.
