Internalizing Change Capacity in Secondary Schools through Organizational Change.

A 4-year study of 9 Ontario secondary schools examined their capacity for change. Change capacity consisted of liberation from structures that inhibit innovation, honoring cognitive dissonance, and forging new relationships. Imposing new organizational structures was less likely to perpetuate change capacity than was a commitment improvement approach that engages the participants. (Contains 54 references.) (Author/TD)
