The Impact of a Field-Based Elementary Physical Education Methods Course on Preservice Classroom Teachers' Beliefs.
Xiang, Ping; Lowy, Susan; McBride, Ron
Journal of Teaching in Physical Education, v21 n2 p145-61 Jan 2002
Examined preservice teachers' beliefs about elementary physical education (PE) and the impact of a field-based elementary PE methods course on their beliefs. Participant surveys indicated that preservice teachers held similar beliefs about the values and purposes of elementary PE to those of PE professionals. The methods course positively impacted their beliefs but not their disposition toward teaching elementary PE. (SM)
