Infant Affective Responses to Mother's Still Face at 6 Months Differentially Predict Externalizing and Internalizing Behaviors at 18 Months.
Moore, Ginger A.; Cohn, Jeffrey F.; Campbell, Susan B.
Developmental Psychology, v37 n5 p706-14 Sep 2001
Investigated stability and change in infant affective responses to still-face interaction, impact of maternal depression, and whether infant responses predicted toddler problem behaviors. Found stable individual differences in gazing away and rates of negative affect. Gazing away increased over time. Mothers' current depressive symptoms and infants' earlier responses to still-face interaction made independent, comparable contributions to toddlers' problem behaviors. (Author/KB)
