Fathers' and Mothers' Perceptions of Father Involvement in Families with Young Children with a Disability.
Simmerman, Susan; Blacher, Jan; Baker, Bruce L.
Journal of Intellectual and Developmental Disability, v26 n4 p325-38 Dec 2001
Sixty families assessed the extent of father involvement in the lives of their young children with severe intellectual disability. Parents usually agreed on extent of father involvement, highest in the areas of playing, nurturing, discipline, and deciding on services. Mothers' satisfaction with fathers' help related more strongly to indicators of family well being than the actual extent of fathers' help. (Contains references.) (Author/DB)
