Support Systems, Psychological Functioning, and Academic Performance of Nontraditional Female Students.
Carney-Crompton, Shawn; Tan, Josephine
Adult Education Quarterly, v52 n2 p140-54 Feb 2002
Comparison of traditional (aged 18-22) and nontraditional (35-44) female college students (21 each) showed that traditional students had poorer psychological functioning (more depression and anxiety) when less satisfied with emotional support. Psychological functioning of nontraditional students was independent of emotional and instrumental support; they also had better academic performance. (Contains 45 references.) (SK)
