Perceptions of Place and Health in Socially Contrasting Neighbourhoods.
Ellaway, Anne; Macintyre, Sally; Kearns, Ade
Urban Studies, v38 n12 p2299-2316 Nov 2001
Analyzed perceptions of the local residential environment and self-reported health in four socially contrasting Scottish neighborhoods. Survey data indicated that the neighborhood of residence predicted perceptions of problems and neighborhood cohesion. Self-assessed health, mental health, and recent symptoms related to perceived local problems and neighborhood cohesion. Housing tenure and employment status also predicted perceptions of the neighborhood. (SM)
