Universities in Crisis? Knowledge Economies, Emancipatory Pedagogies, and the Critical Intellectual.
Blackmore, Jill
Educational Theory, v51 n3 p353-71 Sum 2001
The power/knowledge crisis for universities today is that they are no longer the primary producers, determiners, transmitters, and authorizers of valued knowledge. This paper reviews five texts that examine this crisis, discussing postmodernist tensions at work, the pedagogical relations of academics to their students, criticism in the postmodern university, and educational reform and the critical intellectual.
