An Exploration of African American Preschool-Aged Children's Behavioral Regulation in Emotionally Arousing Situations.
Smith, Maureen; Walden, Tedra
Child Study Journal, v31 n1 p13-45 2001
Investigated the relationship between both interpersonal and intrapersonal factors and teacher-reports of children's behavioral regulation strategies when confronted with hypothetical emotionally arousing situations with peers. Found individual differences in socioemotional competence are associated with some ways children typically regulate their behavior, and emotional socialization at home is associated with behavior regulation in the classroom.
