Parental Substance Abuse and the Development of Children in Family Foster Care.
McNichol, Theresa; Tash, Constance
Child Welfare, v80 n2 p239-56 Mar-Apr 2001
Investigated the impact of parental substance abuse on development of children in foster care. Found that although foster children presented low average cognitive scores, they improved significantly in cognitive functioning during placement. Children with prenatal drug exposure scored significantly lower but made more progress than other children during placement; they also had higher incidence of behavior problems at school. (JPB)
