From Needs Analysis to Curriculum Development: Designing a Course in Health-Care Communication for Immigrant Students in the USA.
Bosher, Susan; Smalkoski, Kari
English for Specific Purposes, v21 n1 p59-79 2002
A needs analysis was conducted to determine why many English-as-a-Second-Language students enrolled in the nursing program were not succeeding academically. Interviews, observations, and questionnaires were used to gather information about the needs of students, all of whom were immigrants. In response, a course was developed to address students' greatest difficulty: communicating in a clinical setting. (Author/VWL)
