Perception of Voiceless Fricatives by Normal-Hearing and Hearing-Impaired Children and Adults.
Pittman, Andrea L.; Stelmachowicz, Patricia G.
Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, v43 n6 p1389-1401 Dec 2000
A study examined perceptual-weighting strategies and performance-audibility functions of 11 children with moderate hearing impairments (HI), 11 age-matched peers, 11 adults with moderate HI, and 11 typical adults. Results showed both hearing sensitivity and age effects. Listeners with HI required lower levels of audibility to achieve similar levels of performance. (Contains references.) (Author/CR)
