Analysis of 237 theses/dissertations and 237 research articles in four family and consumer sciences journals found that primary topics were teachers' professional roles and program evaluation; research strengths were collaboration, critical issues, qualitative methods, and theory; and challenges included overreliance on empirical methods, research-theory relationship, and increasing the number of researchers.
