Part-time Work and Full-time Education in the UK: The Emergence of a Curriculum and Policy Issue.
Hodgson, Ann; Spours, Ken
Journal of Education and Work, v14 n3 p373-88 Oct 2001
Three studies of British full-time students aged 16-19 found 70-80% also worked part time. A typology of their school-work attitudes was developed: balancers, risk-takers, deliberate nonworkers, outsiders, and connectors. Reforms in advanced-level curriculum may affect the relationship between school and part-time work in several ways: accommodation, tension, balance, or connection. (Contains 32 references.) (SK)
