Does Paid Employment Help or Hinder Performance in Secondary School? Insights from US High School Students.
Stern, David; Briggs, Derek
Journal of Education and Work, v14 n3 p355-72 Oct 2001

Essays by working students reveal that many value both school and work as preparation for the future. These attitudes may explain why working does not detract from their school performance.
