Romanian and American Life Aspirations in Relation to Psychological Well-Being.
Frost, Kathryn Minyard; Frost, Christopher J.
Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, v31 n6 p726-51 Nov 2000
Interviewed Romanian and U.S. college students about their life aspirations, taking into account their psychological wellbeing. Results indicated that both groups showed positive correlations with psychological wellbeing when community feeling was considered central to their lives. When financial success was held to be the most central aspiration, only the Americans showed a negative relationship with psychological wellbeing. For Romanians, financial success was related to self-direction and independence. (SM)
