Race, Gender, and Critique: African-American Women, White Women, and Domestic Violence in the 1980s and 1990s.
Weis, Lois
Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society, v27 n1 p139-69 Aut 2001
Focusing on young adult working class and poor African American women and white women, who currently live in a largely inhospitable economy, this paper examines where these women lodge social critique (where they place the cause and imagine the remedy for their troubles). Data from indepth interviews indicate that respondents see the world with a significantly race-based and gendered twist. (SM)
