Peer Culture and Friendship Relationships as Contexts for the Development of Young Children's Pro-Social Behaviour.
Avgitidou, Sofia
International Journal of Early Years Education, v9 n2 p145-52 Jun 2001
Investigated how Greek kindergartners construct and negotiate the context of their shared beliefs, experience, and interests through the form and meaning of their social behavior. Found that prosocial behavior in the form of empathy was a commonly accepted peer culture concern. Empathy forms either a friendship criteria, which questions the issue of reciprocity in friendships, or a friendship characteristic. (JPB)
