Substance Use: Spirituality and Religious Participation as Protective Factors among Rural Youths.
Hodge, David R.; Cardenas, Paul; Montoya, Harry
Social Work Research, v25 n3 p153-61 Sep 2001
Study explored the relationship between substance use and spirituality and religious participation with a multicultural sample of youths. Logistic regression measured efficacy of spiritual and religious participation as predictors of substance use. Although increased participation in religious activities predicted a greater probability of never using alcohol, increased spirituality predicted a greater probability of never using drugs. Implications for prevention programs are discussed. (BF)
