Strong Interest Inventory data on 181 individuals were subjected to path analysis. Congruity of interests and values between individuals and environments significantly predicted work and marital satisfaction. Congruence with partners' interests and values was a strong predictor of marital satisfaction. Reinforcement of either interests or values was a path to increased satisfaction.
