Socio-Economic Outcomes of Teen Pregnancy and Parenthood: A Review of the Literature.
Bissell, Mary
Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality, v9 n3 p191-204 Fall 2000
Reviews literature examining the socioeconomic consequences of teen pregnancy and childbearing and the birth intentions of teenage mothers. Teen mothers, as opposed to women who delay childbearing, are more likely to become socioeconomically disadvantaged. Socioeconomic disadvantage is correlated with, but not necessarily a consequence of, early childbearing. Factors such as cultural norms and individual needs can impact teenagers' childbearing decisions. (SM)
