The Role of Attachment as a Protective Factor in Adolescent Violent Behavior.
Franke, Todd M.
Adolescent & Family Health, v1 n1 p40-57 Win 2000
Examined how attachment relationships and cognitive attributes and sociodemographic characteristics functioned as protective and risk factors across a range of violent behaviors. Data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health highlighted the importance of attachment to family and school as protective factors. While an intact family structure appears as a protective factor, the meaning attached to a particular family structure was more important than the structure itself. (SM)
