A Model of Underlying Influences on Students' Decisions To Drop Out.
McWilliams, Alfred E., Jr.; Everett, Patricia C.; Bass, Margaret L.
Journal of At-Risk Issues, v7 n1 p42-50 Sum-Fall 2000
Looked beyond socioeconomic indicators to seek underlying influences on rural high school seniors' dropout/completion decisions. Data came from school records and student surveys. Students were grouped by gender, and variables of Everett's (1996) model were analyzed. The predictor model for males had a 88.89 percent correct classification rate. For females, 90.48 percent of dropout/completers were correctly predicted. (SM)
