Academic Evaluators versus Practitioners: Alternative Experiences of Professionalism.
Modarresi, Shahpar; Newman, Dianna L.; Abolafia, Mitchel Y.
Evaluation and Program Planning, v24 n1 p1-11 Feb 2001
Studied the perceptions of evaluation as a profession of 313 evaluators, of whom almost 64% were practitioners and about 36% academics. Differences in the degree of professionalism experienced are measured based on professional association, professional activities, training, licensure, definition of work, autonomy, and identity. Overall, evaluators in both categories did not see the need for licensure in the profession. (SLD)
