Why Do They Teach? A Study of Job Satisfaction among Long-Term High School Teachers.
Brunetti, Gerald J.
Teacher Education Quarterly, v28 n3 p49-74 Sum 2001
Examined the extent to which experienced high school teachers were satisfied with their work, noting principal motivators to remaining in the classroom. Survey and interview data indicated that teachers had a high level of satisfaction, despite difficult working conditions. After working with students, other important motivators included passion for the subject, excitement of the classroom, autonomy, and collegiality. (SM)
