Supporting Remote Communities with a Shared Virtual Classroom: A View of Social Contexts.

Describes a Finnish project that linked a remote and an urban secondary classroom to make one virtual classroom. Data from student and teacher interviews and from participant observations indicated that the virtual classroom included multiple social contexts. Remote participants appreciated the access to quality education, though teacher-student and student- student interactions were less frequent than at the main site. (SM)
