The Difficulties and Dilemma of Constructing a Model for Teacher Evaluation in Higher Education.
Chan, Karen
Higher Education Management, v13 n1 p93-111 2001
Describes and analyzes the difficulties experienced by universities in trying to construct a model for teacher evaluation: tension between formative and summative evaluations, and the problems of evidence, the "untrained" appraiser, and criteria and weighting. Asserts that although no solution is perfect, universities must work seriously toward creating an evaluation model, with genuine cooperation between faculty and administrators. (EV)
