On the Relation between Social-Emotional and School Functioning during Early Adolescence: Preliminary Findings from Dutch and American Samples.
Roeser, Robert W.; van der Wolf, Kees; Strobel, Karen R.
Journal of School Psychology, v39 n2 p111-39 Mar-Apr 2001
This study collected data from adolescents, ages 12 to 14, in California and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Two questions were presented concerning social-emotional and school functioning. Consistent with previous research, American youth reported more internalizing and externalizing problems than their Dutch peers and said that their negative moods interfered with their learning.
