Teaching Vocational Undergraduates in a Further Education College: A Case Study of Practice.

Data were obtained from interviews with 60 further education undergraduates and 10 teachers, teaching observations, and 45 survey responses. Undergraduate learning was characterized by close teacher-student relationships, little independent study, and resistance to self-direction. Students rejected characterization of instructional practices as "spoonfeeding." There was little evidence that students were developing critical thinking. (Contains 40 references.) (SK)
