Succession Planning: A Necessary Strategy for Rural School Administration.
Wallin, Dawn C.
Rural Educator, v22 n3 p1-7 Spr 2001
Succession planning focuses on anticipated future administrative positions, the expected skill requirements of those positions, and developing potential candidates to fill the positions. Although succession planning is basically a business oriented model, it seems appropriate for rural educational settings. Strategies for implementing succession management, its relationship to career management, and implications for policy development are described. (Contains 22 references.) (TD)
