Describes assessment measures based on Vygotsky's zone of proximal development concept and Feuerstein's mediated learning experience theory developed for intervention with children experiencing arithmetic difficulties. Grade 2 students (N=48) were assigned to either an experimental or control group, with the experimental group receiving remediation based on assessment. Findings are discussed in view of previous dynamic assessment findings. (JDM)
