Article examines the counseling process in relation to social stereotypes. Counselors are encouraged to be cognizant of how stereotypes may affect Chicanas/os especially in areas related to identity, risky behaviors, stereotypes, education, gender roles, and stigmatization. Encourages counselors to be aware of how their own stereotypes may affect counselor-client relationships. (JDM)
