Crime, Delinquency, and Social Status: A Reconsideration.
Ellis, Lee; McDonald, James N.
Journal of Offender Rehabilitation, v32 n3 p23-52 2001
Summarizes the findings from 273 studies of the relationship between social status and criminal/delinquent behavior. Review suggests that individual social status is much more closely associated with criminal/delinquent behavior than is parental social status, particularly when offending behavior is persistent. Most studies reported a positive correlation between parental social status and self-reported drug use. (Contains 308 references and 2 tables.) (Author/GCP)
