Examines whether a series of postcards addressing specific alcohol risk and protective factors, sent to the parents/guardians of preadolescents, influenced parent-child communication regarding alcohol use. Results found that postcards increased parent-child communication regarding alcohol use, but that these effects differed by setting and race. (Contains 26 references and 2 tables.) (Author/GCP)
