Examined descriptive data from the Florida Department of Education to analyze the distribution of African Americans in programs for students with mild and moderate mental retardation. African American students were consistently over-represented in such classes, though there was much more equal racial distribution in classes for students with moderate mental retardation than for students with mild mental retardation.
