Should Kids "Pick the Team" in K-12 Physical Education Classes?
Hill, Grant M.
Strategies, v14 n4 p26-27 Mar-Apr 2001
Physical education (PE) should promote a more inclusive participation philosophy than athletics. Having students select groups in PE classes is inappropriate. It can be humiliating and time-consuming and hamper teachers' ability to structure learning experiences. By utilizing more humane ways of grouping students, physical educators can foster a supportive, nonthreatening environment in which every child feels protected and valued. (SM)
