Family Influences on the Formation of Moral Identity in Adolescence: Longitudinal Analyses.
Hart, Daniel; Atkins, Robert; Ford, Debra
Journal of Moral Education, v28 n3 p375-86 Sep 1999
Presents a model of moral identity formation. Examines the model using data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (Child Sample) to assess the influence of family environment on moral identity formation. Reveals that cognitively- and socially-rich family environments and high levels of adolescent-parent joint activity facilitated voluntary service (the marker of moral identity). (CMK)
