Focus groups conducted by the Fort Worth (Texas) Nature Center with White, Hispanic, American Indian, and African American adults and children revealed that outdoor recreation and interpretive programming needs and preferences differed among the various groups. Fears about natural elements and racial discrimination may be overwhelming barriers to many African Americans. (SV)
