Over the Edge: Can Holistic Education Contribute to Experiential Education?
Hutchison, David; Bosacki, Sandra
Journal of Experiential Education, v23 n3 p177-82 Win 2000
Three curriculum orientations--transmission (back-to-basics), transaction (progressive and experiential), and transformation (holistic)--are reviewed. Basic principles of holistic education could enhance the conceptual foundations of experiential education by privileging forms of consciousness beyond the cognitive, by deepening the notion of relationship to include embeddedness, and by honoring "being" alongside "doing."
