Culturally Sensitive Research: Interpreting Umeewarra Mission.
James, Jane
Journal of Interpretation Research, v4 n1 p77-79 Win 1999
Ongoing research supports planning and development of an interpretive center based on Umeewarra Mission in South Australia. From the 1930s on, the mission housed Aboriginal children, many of whom had been removed from their families. Researchers must be culturally sensitive to Aboriginal and missionary cultures, playing both supportive and leadership roles in giving something back to the "stolen generations." (SV)
