Distance Education Programs Preparing Personnel for Rural Areas: Current Practices, Emerging Trends, and Future Directions.
Ludlow, Barbara L.; Brannan, Sara A.
Rural Special Education Quarterly, v18 n3-4 p5-20 Sum-Fall 1999
The use of distance education for rural personnel preparation in special education and disability services was examined in the literature on 32 programs. The programs tended to have a narrow focus on graduate education in low-incidence disabilities; needed external support due to high costs; and had demonstrated sustainability. Emerging trends are discussed. (Contains 63 references.) (TD)
