An annual survey of tuition discounting at independent institutions found: (1) tuition discounts did not grow significantly in Fall 2000; (2) 78.8 percent of students received institutional aid; (3) the average grant grew slightly; (4) net tuition increased about equal to gross tuition; (5) higher discounting is not correlated with lower or higher endowments.
