Outlines features of conversational storytelling and describes a consciousness-raising activity involving a picture story and story transcript designed to raise learner awareness of linguistic realizations of these features. Considers how this activity can be supplemented by other activities that encourage students to make use of growing awareness and generate the type of language that will help them develop their conversational storytelling ability.
